Roel studied law in Groningen and European policy in Amsterdam. He briefly worked as a lawyer in Sint Maarten before making the switch to public affairs. As a lobbyist for an employers’ organization, he focused on regional economic issues—including zero-emission zones and the labor market—before joining Castro.
He also ran as a candidate for Volt in both the 2024 European elections and the 2025 Dutch parliamentary elections, with economic issues and European reform as his key priorities. In addition, he occasionally contributes opinion pieces to newspapers on the EU and European integration.
Roel advises clients in the mobility, energy, and industrial sectors on politically sensitive issues, reputation management, and regulatory matters.
